We have been busy, so much so that 2024 flew by, and what an incredible year it was.
Our Jungle Academy community has flourished together, from exciting adventures to inventive market days, from sports competitions to eerie festivities. Let’s reflect on some of the highlights and express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to these amazing experiences!
🧡💛Supporting Local Charities🧡💛
We kicked off 2024 in the best way possible—volunteering for a fantastic 2-day camp for local children! In collaboration with the Family Support Center of Ojochal, we welcomed 50 local kids to Jungle Academy for an unforgettable experience. From music and animal care to nature hikes and fun-filled games, every moment was packed with joy, learning, and adventure. It was truly a pleasure to be in service to our local community, and we loved every second of it!
🏕️ January Camp: Sea to Summit Adventure
In January, we also had Jungle Camp II: Sea to Summit! After 6 days of acquiring vital camping and teamwork skills, along with some exciting rocket launching 🚀, 25 eager campers set off on a 4-day, 3-night adventure through rivers, jungles, and onward to Isla Garza. Waking up by the sea each morning was truly magical!

🎉 Todo de Ojochal Market
In March, our students envisioned and initiated the Todo de Ojochal Market, highlighting the remarkable products and services of more than 30 providers within our community. The event was a lively success, featuring everything from cookies and jewelry to soaps and pastries, along with live music and lots of smiles!
🐋 Field Trips & Adventures
Our students explored the wonders of the natural world with two incredible field trips:
August : Whale's Tail Excursion 🐳 — A closer look at marine life, guided by our enthusiastic chaperones.
November : Jungle & Waterfall Trek 🌱 — An exploration of fungi, insects, and dense rainforest trails.

🎃 Spook-tacular Halloween
In October, our students displayed their spooky creativity with impressive decorations and exciting fun!

🏀 Sports: Jungle Jaguarundi Power!
Sports continue to play a significant role in life at Jungle Academy! This year, Jungle Jaguarundi had 28 participants, including students from nearby schools. Our basketball abilities are improving, and an inter-school tournament might be in the future!
Thanks to Anu and JR for basketball coaching and inspiring participants to do more in the advanced team! 🏀
🏓 Ping Pong Craze
Imagine life without ping pong. Fortunately, we don't need to! Students are captivated by the game, honing their skills, learning teamwork, and collaboratively resolving conflicts.

🏃♀️ Run Club
Run Club began in May with committed students working diligently. One student even participated in the San Jose 10k! Running serves as both meditation and lifestyle, and we are thrilled that many persisted week after week until the end!
