Like all English people, we love roundabouts and good traffic flow. We also struggle to comprehend how North Americans get anything done with only crossroads.
As you may be aware, we now have a new vehicle area attached to Calle Papagayo and in true British fashion it features a gloriously cute, mini-roundabout.
Despite the obvious, that roundabouts are fantastic, it also protects the main water pipe onto the property. So, please don't run it over. Plus, if we all follow the flow it should work out a dream.
We have two diagrams - Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up. They have different flows. In the morning we anticipate that parents are dropping off students and moving away relatively quickly. So, there's no parking or waiting in this area. If you need to unload something or talk to someone at school please drive on to the site and park as normal. School is not closed to car traffic, we are just limiting flow to necessary traffic only.
In the afternoons, pick-up does require a certain amount of waiting. Diagram two shows the places you can park to wait for short periods.
Again, if you think your stay will be longer than 5-10 minutes, please drive into the school and park.
This type of flow is based on FIFO - first-in first-out. Of course, we can't guarantee that this works perfectly, but as a rule of thumb, if you are first to arrive, you will park inside the vehicle area towards the exit and not right at the entrance - you get what I mean, right?
Also, please don't be shy to help people out who are not understanding the flow.
