Week 1 has flown by, and it was packed with fun! We got a new ping pong table, and you can bet that during every break and lunch, the kids were playing enthusiastically! Anu still seems to be the reigning champ, but he'd better watch out, as the kids are improving each day! When asked to describe Day 1 in one word, a student invented a new adjective: “Happying!” It might not be proper English - don’t worry, we’re working on it - but we loved hearing it!

This cycle's schedule includes some modifications, such as afternoon sessions dedicated to study skills and individual check-ins with students. Enhancing study skills will enable students to learn more efficiently. The check-ins aim to clarify and align learning goals, determine the support needed for success, and provide a chance to discuss any academic or social curiosities or challenges. Our teachers are eager to discover the best ways to ensure your children's success!
Besides student check-ins, starting next week, we will begin contacting parents directly to understand your perspective. This will be conducted individually, on a student-parent basis. If you don't hear from us in Week 2, don't worry, you are probably next on the list! Additionally, there will be an opportunity for informal teacher-parent meetings at the end of this cycle in April.
For full-time students, as in previous years, report cards will be distributed mid-year in June and at the end of the year in December. Furthermore, new students will receive a report card at the conclusion of their initial cycle.
We understand that forming student groups might cause some concerns, but rest assured that your child’s placement is always aimed at their best interest. Grouping depends on academic progress and the optimal learning setting for both the individual student and the class. We’ll consider their IXL results, observed behavior during class and breaks, and will have a decision by the end of Week 2!
To wrap-up. Week 1 has been an amazing success! Your child has already dived into creative writing, explored the exciting world of beginner game-making, embraced the discovery of map work, kicked off science fair preparation, and expanded their Spanish vocabulary with some new words!
This Friday will conclude just like all the best Fridays: with BIG GAMES. We hope all our students will join us, enhancing their team-building and communication skills in the most enjoyable manner! We’re eager to share what the upcoming weeks have in store!
